E-Billing Enrolment Contest Rules
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
The E-Billing Enrollment Contest (the “Contest”) of Algoma Power Inc., Canadian Niagara Power Inc., and Cornwall Street Railway Light and Power Company Limited (collectively called the "Companies" and individually called the "Company"), will begin on January 1, 2022, at 12:01 A.M. (EST) and will end on December 31, 2022, at 11:59 P.M. (EST) (the “Contest Period”).
By entering the Contest, entrants shall abide by these Contest Rules and will be deemed to have received, understood, and accepted these Contest Rules by participating in the Contest.
PRIZE:
There is one (1) prize available to be won as follows:
- One eligible entry will be selected to receive a Kia Sportage hybrid.
ENTRY:
No purchase is necessary but your entry must be received online (as described below).
Online Entry
If, during the Contest Period, you are not yet an e-billing customer of a Company, you must successfully register and subscribe to receive paperless bills from a Company via: https://myaccount.cnpower.com/app/register.jsp
Note customers are not eligible for this Contest if they were enrolled in e-billing with a Company prior to January 1, 2022.
The first successful new enrollment to paperless e-billing during the Contest Period constitutes an automatic entry into the Contest. Limit of one entry per Company account number.
To constitute an entry, each e-billing enrollment must be completed by the end of the Contest Period. In addition, each e-billing enrollment shall be subject to review and approval by the Companies. Any e-billing enrollment not approved by the Companies or determined by the Companies in its sole discretion to be incomplete, inactive, or otherwise ineligible, shall not constitute an entry into the Contest. Any approval or determination of completeness, activity, or eligibility may occur following the close of the Contest Period.
Any other method of entry in the Contest is not permitted and void. Non-compliance with any entry procedure or these Contest Rules will result in disqualification. All entries must be submitted and received by December 31, 2022, at 11:59 P.M. (EST) (the “Contest Closing Date”).
DRAW:
Following the end of the Contest Period, the Companies will randomly draw one (1) entry from all eligible entries received.
To win, the selected entrant must correctly answer the mathematical skill-testing question and must return the properly executed release form within the specified time. The selected entrant will be notified by telephone, email, or mail approximately the first week following the draw. If the skill-testing question is answered incorrectly or if the selected entrant does not respond to the attempts to be contacted or the properly executed release form is not returned within the specified time, then the selected entrant will be disqualified from this Contest and an alternate entry will be randomly drawn from the pool of eligible entries. If the selected entrant cannot be reached within two weeks after the first attempt of notification, the selected entrant’s opportunity to win the prize will be forfeited and another selected entrant will be randomly drawn. Entrants agree that the Companies shall not be liable or responsible for failed attempts to contact a selected entrant.
GENERAL RULES:
Any entry which is in violation of these Contest Rules or received after the Contest Period is void and the entrant or entry shall be disqualified from this Contest.
This Contest is only open to customers of the Companies in good standing at the time of the draw and subscribed to paperless billing with a Company. Entrants must be residents of Ontario and 18 years of age or older
If a business or commercial customer is selected as a winner, the business owner or an authorized officer of the business will be assigned the prize on behalf of the business for distribution in their sole discretion.
This Contest excludes employees, agents, and representatives of any of the following, and anyone with whom such persons are living (whether related or not) and a member of any such person’s immediate family (regardless of where they live): Canadian Niagara Power Inc., Algoma Power Inc., Cornwall Street Railway Light and Power Company Limited, and their affiliate companies. In these Contest Rules, “immediate family” includes, mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, partner, or spouse.
Entries are subject to verification by the Companies, in each case in its sole discretion. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations. All decisions of the judges are final, and the Released Parties (as defined below) shall not be responsible for any errors or negligence that may occur in connection with this Contest.
The selected entrant will also be required to sign a declaration and release form (the “Release Form”) to confirm compliance with these Contest Rules, acceptance of the prize as awarded, without substitution and releasing the Companies, its affiliated companies, and their respective shareholders, directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any liability in connection with the prize or this Contest. The Release Form must be returned within the time period specified or the prize will be forfeited.
No communication will be entered into except with the selected entrant. By entering the Contest, all entrants consent to the use, without compensation, of their name, city of residence, audio/ video image, statements, and/or photograph in any related publicity. The prizes are nontransferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
Notwithstanding anything contained in these Contest Rules, the Released Parties do not accept any responsibility for loss, damage or claims from any cause whatsoever relating to this Contest. The Released Parties will not be responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, falsified, or destroyed entries and all such entries shall be void. The Released Parties will not be responsible for any failure of the website during this Contest or for any problems or technical malfunction of computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email, online or Internet entry to be received by the Companies, whether due to technical problems, traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof or any other cause, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion.
The use of an invalid email address will void the entry. Entrants using multiple email addresses to enter the Contest will be disqualified from this Contest. In the event of a dispute, entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the applicable Company account. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the person who is assigned an email address by an internet provider or other organization (e.g. educational institute, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. If the identity of an entrant is disputed, the authorized account holder associated with the email account at the time of entry will be deemed the entrant. A selected entrant may be required to provide proof that they are the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the selected entry. The sole determinants of the time for the purposes of a valid entry in the Contest are the Contest server machine(s).
The Companies reserve the right, subject to applicable law, to terminate, amend or modify this Contest or any part thereof at any time and in any way, without prior notice; however, the Companies may give notice of any such termination, amendment or modification on its website. Without limitation, the Companies reserve the right, in its sole discretion; to cancel or suspend the Internet portion of the Contest should a virus, bug or any other cause beyond the Companies’ reasonable control corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest.
Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Companies reserve the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
All entries will become the permanent property of the Companies, and no entry will be returned.
