At Eastern Ontario Power we recognize that lowering energy usage is a good way for businesses to help the environment and improve their bottom line.
The Save ON Energy website is a resource with information about incentive programs, services and actions that businesses can take to achieve greater energy efficiency. You’ll also learn about the benefits of energy conservation.
Save ON Energy is brought to you by Eastern Ontario Power and the Ontario Power Authority. The Ontario Power Authority’s mission is to contribute to the development of a reliable and sustainable electricity system. They do this by promoting conservation and the efficient use of electricity in cooperation with local electric utilities, as well as by ensuring adequate electricity supply from a variety of sources.

DEMAND RESPONSE programs compensate participating industrial and commercial businesses for reducing their energy demand at specific times of power system need. During such times wholesale market prices for electricity may be high, the power system is experiencing large peaks in demand, or there is a greater risk to the reliability of the electricity grid.
DEMAND RESPONSE can be incorporated into your business’ energy cost-management strategy in several different ways:
-
By reducing your equipment electricity use
-
By shifting production to
an off-peak period
-
Or even by generating your own power
|
DEMAND RESPONSE VOLUNTARY DR1 is simple. When you receive an activation notice, you decide whether to contribute to reducing your load or not. When you do participate, you earn monthly payments for your contribution.
To earn monthly payments, all you have to do is reduce your energy consumption when you receive activation notices. Participation in VOLUNTARY DR1 is strictly voluntary. It’s entirely up to you when and if you take part – there’s no commitment during times when it doesn’t suit your business needs. |

CONTRACTUAL DR3 offers higher incentive rates in return
for your mandatory commitment to
take part in activation notices.
To earn monthly payments, all you
have to do is reduce your energy
consumption by an agreed to amount,
when you receive activation notices. In exchange for your contractual
commitment to reducing your
demand, you will receive attractive payments. Performance in this
program is mandatory, and therefore
financial offsets may occur for non-performance. |
